Volunteering at the pantry

There are many opportunities to volunteer at the pantry. Some of the opportunities include:

  • Food Distribution – During the hours we are open assisting in the distribution of food to our clients.
  • Food Pick Up – We pick up donated food from several merchants on a regular basis
  • Special Events – We have several fundraising and food drive events throughout the year

Hello Everyone

We have several opportunities coming up that we are looking for individuals to help take charge of and help to organize:

1 – We have been asked to participate with Lord of Life Church in starting a meal program for the Depew community. The plan is to start May 23rd  – meals would be prepared by Lord of Life at their facility and served at the Depew Senior Center (where we hold our Monthly Food Truck). They would like us to be involved in helping to make the community aware of this opportunity and possibly helping to serve. They are looking at this becoming a monthly or twice a month program. This is a great opportunity for us to bring the community together and assist other programs in feeding the hungry.

2 – Beginning in June the Depew Concert series starts – there will be six concerts on Thursday night and in the past we have had a tent with information on our program and possibly sell water to raise funds. In addition, we could ask Lord of Life, Project Hope, and others to co sponsor with us so more information gets out about our programs.

3 – In July we once again will have the Vans Warped Tour food drive at Darien Lake – need help with that.

As you can see we have a lot of opportunities coming up, not to mention our Thanksgiving Basket program with The Vine and our annual Christmas Party.

I you are interested in being a part of any of these, please contact us

Qualified clients can visit our location twice per month to obtain supplemental food for their households. Last year we were able to service over 350 households per month with over 60,000 lbs of food.

As we move forward, our goal is to expand our services to further assist our clients not only with food, but with other needed services as they become available.

Catch us on Facebook

Thanks to everyone for all their help today for the Mail Carriers Food Drive – we received over 7000 lbs of food. We will need some people Monday night if possible to help us sort the remaining items that came in after 5PM today.

If you can help just let me know – leave a message 949-0498 or email me at [email protected]

Estimating 2 to 2 1/2 hours or whatever you could offer.

THANKS AGAIN TO OUR VOLUNTEERS AND TO THE MAIL HANDLERS!!!!!!!!

Tri-Community Food Pantry shared Stamp Out Hunger‘s United Way supports the Food Drive. See MoreSee Less

The 25th annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ #StampOutHunger Food Drive is on Saturday, May 13. On that day, all you have to do is leave a bag or bags of non-perishable food by your mailbox before your letter carrier’s normal pickup time. Your letter carrier will deliver the food to a local food pantry in your community. Get more details: www.nalc.org/food.

Here’s a message from Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of United Way, a national Food Drive partner.

Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (2017)
Event Chairs: Mark Kaczmarek – Paul Burdick
DETAILS: Each year, on the second Saturday in May, the Depew and Lancaster postal branches participate in the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. On that day, residents are asked to leave a donation of non-perishable food on their doorstep. Letter carriers will then pick up that food when they deliver mail. For several years, the food pantries in Depew and Lancaster, Tri-Community, Trinity and St. Martha’s, have been the recipients of the food collected on that day.
On the day of the food drive, we will receive food via the following means:
• Letter carriers will drop off food at the pantry
• Volunteers will drive along postal routes and collect food
• At the end of the day, volunteers will pick up any remaining food left at the postal facility
We will need volunteers to act in the following capacities:
• Drivers, using their personal large capacity vehicles, to travel postal routes and pick up food
• Runners to ride along with drivers to go to each house and retrieve food
• Sorters at the pantry to unpack, organize, shelve and package food
Since this event will be an all day event, we will be splitting volunteer time into two shifts. We will also be organizing an event the following Monday, May 15th, to unpack, organize, shelve and package any food not processed on the day of the food drive.
